Mariposa Means Butterfly

There have been so many mariposas around lately, and it has been such a welcomed sight. After a tough class I start walking to the teacher's lounge all hot, sweaty, and frustrated and then a little (or big) butterfly crosses my path and makes everything all better. Sometimes they fly into my classroom or hover around the many flowers on campus. They come in all colors and sizes. I like the black and blue ones the best. I wish I could carry around a little camera to capture their beauty, unfortunately I always seem to see them at school and therefore don't get pictures.

Sara,

We always enjoy reading your blogs and are glad they returned after their recent absence.

There was a huge and lovely moth perched on one of the posters in the classroom today, it blended in nicely and stayed there the whole class. Of course I had to stop the boys from trying to kill it and told them if that moth dies before the end of the day you will have a detention with me after school. During class another big moth was seen flying by outside the window and the kids were all shouting "hey, he's looking for his friend". I also saw a really pretty brown butterfly. I know its a butterfly because Jen taught me that when butterflies land they keep their wings closed and moths rest with wings open.
